These are a set of instructions on how to use the X32 and X18 soundboards located in Shattuck Hall and the Chapel. These boards have advanced features but work as many other sound boards do. These instructions also have basic troubleshooting processes in case of minor issues with the soundboard. If the issue you are experiencing are not in the instructions below, please contact Support (support@iliff.edu).
Shattuck Hall (Behringer X32)
System Info
-
System has 6 wireless microphones, 4 lapel/headset microphones, HDMI/VGA L/R, Piano, and AUX L/R
-
These are all plugged into the board at all times
-
no need to change or plug anything in except for an external audio source like a phone or computer
-

How to use
-
Turn on system using power switch towards the bottom middle of the sound board box
-
System will take 10-30 seconds to initialize and boot-up
-
Make sure Crestron controller (White touch screen) on the back wall is on (this allows the amplifier to turn on)
-
Make sure your master out control (red display screen and far right slider) is set at 0bd
-
Each input can be controlled using the slider under the color coded input display
-
Try to stay under 0bd so that it will stay out of feedback range
-
-
Inputs for HDMI Audio L&R as well as Aux input are linked and you will only need to move one slider and both will move.

Start volumes low as you are setting you control volumes as you may not need to go as high as you think
-
Soundboard automatically levels inputs to compensate for light or loud speakers. Whispers or yelling will be automatically controlled by the soundboard without the need to move the sliders

Mute buttons can be used to mute all other in use mics except for the individual mic that is being actively used. This will help prevent unwanted background noises or talking being picked up by the other mics that are in use. Mute button is activated when the backlight is illuminated red

Mics can also be muted at the mic by clicking the power button. The mic is muted if the orange light is on. The mic is active if the green light is on.

if there are no lighted input displays and you cannot control input sound, make sure you are on CH 1-16. This button is located on the left side of all the sliders and should be green

If advanced settings are needed or their is a lot of ambient noise issues, contact the IT department. These settings are difficult to change without further knowledge of the board and sound dynamics.

If no sound can be heard:
-
check to see that the input you are using is not muted by looking at the red button below the name of the input.

If the button is red, the mute is on
-
-
check to see that the main output is not muted by looking at the red button below the name of the input
-
If the button is red, the mute is on
-

Check to confirm the mic or audio source is on
-
If using a mic, is the light on the mic green?
-
If using an audio source like a phone or computer, is the volume up?
-

If there is feed back through the mic:
-
Check to confirm that the input is at or below the 0db line on the slider
-
Check to confirm the Main output is at or below the 0db line on the slider
-
back off the slider some until the feedback dispates
-
you can slowly bring the slider back up after to increase volume
-

Chapel (Behringer X18Air with Apple iPad controller)
How to use
-
uncover sound system using latches on the top and sides of the boxes
-
turn on the system power
-
located at the bottom of the soundboard box
-
-
home button on the iPad
-
XAir application will open automatically
-
iPad is set to only open this program
-
-
-
with the digital board you can control each output
-
This board works a lot like the X32 system described in more detail above
-
do not go over 0bd on any input or output
-
these are balanced inputs and will give ample volume whether whispering or yelling
Troubleshooting

hit home button on iPad 3 times to level guided mode

close XAir program and restart

hit iPad home button 3 more times to resume guided mode

iPad use is only for X18Air control and will not playing music through the soundboard

Soundbaord is connected to Iliff's network via a wired connection
-
If any issues arise using the iPad, you can connect to it either wirelessly or through wired ethernet connection via IP address (172.16.3.104)

Must have the XAir program on your computer
