Research with Human Subjects and CITI Program Training
Students completing final projects and theses involving research with human subjects are required to obtain Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval prior to beginning such research, in order to ensure the protection of these subjects. IRB approval involves the following mandatory actions:
- Completion of the CITI Program Training through DU. All Master’s and Doctor of Ministry (DMin) students engaging in human subjects research will pay a $35 fee to Iliff for the cost of this training.
- Students enrolled in IST 5015 Research Methods and Ethics in Lived Religion / Practical Theology will automatically be charged this fee upon registration.
- Students not enrolled in the course will be billed the fee through the Iliff Business Office upon completion of the CITI Program Training Registration Form.
- Information about accessing the training will be provided to students in the course or upon payment of the fee through the Business Office.
Submission and Approval of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) Application
Final projects and theses involving research with human subjects must be approved through the IRB before such research can begin. All applications, reviews, and approvals for Iliff students are conducted through the University of Denver.
All students submitting an application to DU will be charged a fee of $100 through the Iliff Business Office in order to offset costs for Iliff's use of this service through DU.
Information about types of applications, forms, and protocols is found on the Human Subject Research | University of Denver. For additional questions, contact Dr. Kristina Lizardy-Hajbi at klizardy@iliff.edu.
