At the Writing Center, we see A LOT of sentence fragments. These are logical strings of words that begin with a capital letter and end with a period, but unbeknownst to our writers, are not actually full sentences. Another way to refer to these sentence fragments is as "dependent clauses." In order to make sure that one is writing complete sentences, one must know the difference between "independent" and "dependent" clauses.
