One of the simplest ways to add an image or video to a discussion in Canvas is to use an iOS device (iPhone or iPad).
If you need to attach a file to your post, see Canvas's official documentation for adding an attachment to a discussion reply in iOS. To embed an image or video, follow the instructions below.
1. Login to the Canvas Student app, navigate to the discussion in your course that needs video or an image.
2. Once in the discussion, click the Reply button or the Reply arrow at the place in the discussion where you want to interject your post.
3. Once in the reply screen, scroll to the right on the editor toolbar at the bottom of the screen and find the image icon. Click on this image icon. If you use the paperclip icon at the top, your media will be attached as a file to your post, not embedded.

4. Once you click on the image icon in the tool bar, follow the instructions to add an attachment —> click the plus icon, choose your media source (camera, files, library), record or select your media, then click Use in bottom right corner of image or video, then click Done on attachment screen. If you want to add any text or other items to your post, do that and then click Done on Reply screen.
