Visiting professor is the title assigned to persons who are hired to teach courses for a limited and specified period (normally one calendar year or less) and who hold or have held professorial rank (assistant professor, associate professor, professor) at another institution of higher education or have accomplishments that are considered equivalent.
- A contract will specify teaching, and other responsibilities, as well as remuneration and term of contract.
- Visiting professors are nominated by the Dean and recommended by the Faculty Personnel Committee, consistent with the academic standards of the School. Appointment is made by the President consistent with policies found in Section III.C.
- Visiting professors are expected to be available for a reasonable amount of time to provide academic counseling for their students.
