There are several ways to contact instructors at Iliff, but these are not always transparent in Canvas.
Sometimes, there is need to contact an instructor or the entire instructional team of a course individually. In the interest of allowing users to choose their preferred notification channels, Canvas does not make email addresses available for instructors or other students. If you do not know your instructor's email address, there are two main ways to contact your instructor (or instructional team) through Canvas.
Help Menu - Ask Your Instructor a Question (only in web browser)
The quickest and simplest way to ask a question to the whole instructional team for a course (teachers and TAs in the course) is to use the Ask Your Instructor a Question item in the global Canvas help menu.
- In the bottom left of the global navigation in Canvas, click of the help icon.
- This will bring up a list of Help options. To send a message your whole instructional team, click the option Ask Your Instructor a Question.
- Select the course for which you want to contact the instructors from the course dropdown, enter your message in the message box, and then click Send Message.
- This will send a message to all people with the teacher or teaching assistant role in the course you chose from the dropdown. They will receive this message based on the notifications they have setup on their Canvas account.
Use Canvas Conversations (both web browser and mobile apps)
Canvas Conversations is the built in messaging tool in Canvas, that will send messages to users based on the recipient's configured notification preferences. To send a message to an instructor using Canvas Conversations, follow one of the guidelines below based on your environment:
